Ethiopia and Russia agree to strengthen bilateral relations –


Addis Ababa, July 27, 2022 (Walta) – Ethiopia and Russia agreed to continue to strengthen their relations in terms of international diplomacy, economy, trade, science and technology.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia Demeke Mekonnen today held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on various issues of common concern.

Demeke Mekonnen said the two had a fruitful discussion which reaffirms the common values ​​and interests of Ethiopia and Russia in various fields while briefing the press after the discussion.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs attached great importance to the long-standing historical relations with the Russian Federation and appreciated Russia’s unwavering support for Ethiopia in these difficult times.

On the other hand, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Russia are delightful and efficient.

He also stressed the need to hold a ministerial meeting of the two countries.

The Russian Foreign Minister further said that Russia will continue to work with Ethiopia on international and regional issues.
