NRDC Signs Memorandum of Understanding with USPTO for Bilateral Relations


Visakhapatnam: The National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) has signed an extension Memorandum of Understanding with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in New Delhi.

The MOU was exchanged between Commodore Amit Rastogi (Retired), CMD, NRDC and John Cabeca, US Intellectual Property Advisor for South Asia, in the presence of senior officials from the USPTO, Embassy of the United States in India and representatives of the NRDC. The objective of the bilateral cooperation agreement between the NRDC and the USPTO under this MoU is to carry out joint programs for the organization of training programs and capacity building in the field of IPRs, technology transfer/commercialization; exchange of information in the field of acquisition of intellectual property rights, technology transfer policy and practice; Organize IP conferences, symposia, seminars, workshops, IP public awareness campaigns to promote India’s innovation/economic growth.

NRDC Visakhapatnam Regional Manager Dr. BK Sahu said that the NRDC has in the past carried out many such activities and initiatives in collaboration with the USPTO. The NRDC is a national technology transfer organization under the Ministry of Science and Technology. It plays a pivotal role in intellectual property management, technology transfer and commercialization in the country by bridging the gap between academia and industry in developing technologies from laboratory scale to commercial level.
