Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar Ridwan Hassan affirmed that his country and Qatar enjoy deep and solid historical relations at the political, economic, cultural, social, defense and other levels.
In a statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of Qatar’s National Day, the ambassador said the two countries have long enjoyed important relations and have valuable opportunities to strengthen cooperation and partnership in the fields. such as trade, tourism, investment and culture, as well as cultural and social fields.
He referred to successful Qatari investments in Indonesia such as the National Bank of Qatar, Nebras Power and Ooredoo, and pointed out that there are many other exciting opportunities to improve investments and increase trade in the years to come.
In the cultural field, the Ambassador spoke of the diverse and rich cultural heritage enjoyed by the two countries, which creates opportunities for cooperation.
âI would like to thank the government of Qatar for choosing Indonesia as a partner country for the Year of Culture 2023,â he said. âI think this appointment would put the cultural cooperation between the two countries to a higher level. “
Hassan also stressed the importance of cooperation between Qatar and Indonesia at all levels, especially on environmental issues, given the common vision on how to build and develop the world, and their aspiration to a a more prosperous, just and sustainable world.
Indonesia is the current president of the G20.
This momentum would and should create significant opportunities for the two countries to defend and promote multilateralism, including tackling the global coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), the ambassador added.
The envoy said that Qatar is one of the best performing countries in dealing with the global pandemic.
He pointed out that even with the many events and conferences being held in Qatar this year, this country is still able to keep the number of active Covid-19 cases very low.
“I have no doubt that Qatar will maintain and even rapidly strengthen its economic recovery,” added Hassan.
Regarding Qatar’s preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, he said: “I think there is no doubt that Qatar would be a great host for the tournament.”
“This country has planned and completed huge infrastructure projects ahead of the 2022 World Cup,” said Hassan. “It has also engaged many foreign communities to participate in the FIFA World Cup.”
