Zelenskyy meets with Zambian leader to develop bilateral ties

(MENAFN) Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Zambian leader Hakainde Hichilema spoke by phone on Tuesday evening and discussed common ties.

On Tuesday, Hichilema posted on Facebook: “We discussed issues of mutual importance and noted that peace and security remain priorities for our government, the region, the continent and the world as a whole. Without peace and security, there can be no development. and prosperity.”

The Zambian president said his country was grateful for the cooperation of the Ukrainian administration in the safe withdrawal of its citizens from the European country at the start of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

“(I) had the first conversation with the President (Hakainde Hichilema) in the history of bilateral relations with Zambia. Appreciate the support for Ukraine in international organizations,” Zelenskyy tweeted.

On Monday, Zelenskyy said he also held talks with Nigerien President Mohamed Bazoum and discussed mutual collaboration, participation in global companies and grain supply to Ukraine.
